Inktober
this year's challenge
Dear Friend,
There are many, many challenges floating around the art community on any given day, and it is hard to resist trying them all. I usually start with great gusto, then get busy and kind of fade away.
My first ever challenge, and I credit it for getting me back in daily drawing, was Birbfest in January 2023.

I hadn’t started my illustrated journal, so I was able to focus on the birds. Now, I find if hard to split my attention. That doesn’t mean the abandoned challenges are useless or a waste of time. I learn a lot from completing any of the prompts.

October is finally here, and there are all kinds of new and shiny challenges starting. I plan to do two of them this month. Inktober, but I am interpreting it a little differently this year. Instead of making 30 drawings, I am going to create a zine over the course of the month.
Another challenge that I am very excited about is the Postcard Challenge happening over at Illustrated Life. Art, writing, mail? What’s not to be excited about?
Anyone have any challenges they are looking forward to in the upcoming months?
Searching for stamps, Laura

Your zine idea sounds really cool!
Can’t wait to see your zine. I’m going to take supplies on my travels but give myself grace to start when I get back.
